So I was a big lurker on the samsung-eternity.com forums and the quick answers over there convinced me to get the phone last year, and I've loved EVERY minute of it. The Eternity is by far the best phone I've ever owned.

Now it's time to upgrade, and I was convinced either the Solstice or Mythic should be the next logical step.

But after all the reading I've been doing, I'm a bit disappointed.

From everything I've read, the only 'upgrade' from the Eternity to the Solstice is a few more available widgets??
But at the cost of a downgrade in camera, screen size, and headphone jack?!

Samsung isn't that dumb... what am I missing...??

What are some notable upgrades?
- full screen videos?
- better menu/internet scrolling? (the eternity is either superfast or superslow it seems, definitely not fluid)
- stronger vibrate setting? (eternity's is way too soft, even at highest setting)
- customizeable locked screen picture?
- Huh

Please enlighten me Smiley

Afternoon!

Don't know too much about your current phone and I am by no means an expert on solstices but I have formed a few opinions about it.

1. MediaNet is ok for a basic app. but installing Bolt, exspecially the Goat version, VASTLY improves web browsing.
2. I like the virtual keyboard vs. the slider types like of the Impression, one less moving part to break. Anyone who is active in work or play should consider that for sure.
3. Reception is very good, but do wish speaker was on front so when using both hands & speakerphone it's not so muffled.
4. Screen size is nicely matched to overall size of phone. This allows the phone to remain light, slim and easy to carry while giving a reasonably large workspace.

I hope this helps some, I researched new phones on the net for a few weeks and kept coming back to the Solstice.  I compared it to phones zuch as Blackberry's Pearl & Curve, LG Neon, Samsung's Mythic & Impression, etc. The icing on the cake was it was free from Walmart, whether new contract or a simple renewal.

Anyone that said the solstice was an upgrade was pulling your chain. There are some things that have been upgraded and some that have been downgraded. The upgrade to the eternity is the mythic.

I gave my Eternity to my 14 year old and got the Solstice.  Solstice does have a smaller camera, but I like how it fits in my pocket better than the Eternity.  Not much of an upgrade, other than I don't feel like I've lost connection during calls (sometimes Eternity sounded like the other person had been dropped and I wasn't sure they were still there).

Basically the solstice was a downgrade with the physical part of the phone. Size, camera, memory. It is the software that got updated. I believe the touch screen is better too.
