Flashing is for installing the rom. That has nothing to do with another carrier.  You will have to ask ATT to unlock your phone. They have the code. And if metro pcs is not gsm then no you cant use your solstice with it.

att and t-mobile are gsm network carriers.  verizon and sprint are cdma network carriers. Just found out metro pcs is cdma.
