How to: Install Games/Apps w/ Data Cable Tutorial
This is if you want to install game/apps without a data plan but you will need a data cable to access the phone.

(This Guide has been written to show how to install games/apps using the master key)
This is a revised edition taken from the eternity forum which was written by specialist7. Thankyou specialist7.

For a Video Tutorial:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/wNczeXn1fic&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/wNczeXn1fic&rel=1</a>
*Thanks Aligzandoor*

*****************************************************
This method works with Windows XP and Windows Vista (32/64-bit).

USB Cable Used: Samsung Model: APCBS10BBE (this model is for data transfer and charging) Which can be purchased [here] which came out to $5~.

*****************************************************
Included in this guide:
Installation of PC Studio IH1
Installation and usage of TKFileExplorer
Accessing Admin Settings w/ Master Key

*****************************************************
Download Links:
PC Studio IH1: [here] (What you use in this guide)
TK File Explorer 2.2: [here] (Used to access the Internal Memory of the phone)
JADGen: [here] (Used to generate .JAD files from .JAR files)

*** You can also get TKFileExplorer to work with just the USB Modem Drivers if you want standalone drivers (No PC Studio) ***
USB Modem Drivers: [here] (Used if PC Studio doesn't load the proper drivers or you just want standalone drivers)
For a Tutorial on how to install the drivers manually (without PC Studio): [here]

*****************************************************
Installation of PC Studio IH1(photos are of pc-studio v3 for eternity. Pc-studio IH1 should be similiar.

1. Once downloaded run the setup file. (Make sure the phone is unplugged)

2. Now Connect your USB Cable to your phone. Make sure the phone is set to 'Samsung PC Studio'.
(Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Select USB Mode -> Samsung PC Studio)
Let the drivers install.
->

3. Once finished you might have to restart PC Studio IH1 as well as your phone to detect properly (while still connected). Once detected it should say 'SGH-A887 Connected'.

*****************************************************
This Concludes Installing Samsung PC Studio IH1
*****************************************************
[The following method contains procedures that add/removes files into the internal memory and has the potential to brick (unusable) your phone. Users at this forum are not responsible for anything that you do with your phone. Do this at your own risk. With the Master Key the risk is less to none but the possibility is still there. Tongue]

Installation and usage of TKFileExplorer

1. Download TKFileExplorer: [here] or search through the forums. Run the program and it should look like an explorer window. (Make sure PC Studio is closed as well as the tray icon)

2. Go to Settings -> COM -> Click on the drop selection under 'Port' and select one that’s available.

3. Click 'Connect'

4. The phone should connect if done properly.

5. Games are located in /Exe/Java/Games/, When transferring games make sure that you have both the .JAR and .JAD files. JADGen can be downloaded: [here] Just drag the .JAR file and drag it to JADGen.exe to generate a .JAD file.

When copying the game onto the phone, it is easier to create a folder in the phone and transfer the .jar file then the .jad file one at a time. Dragging multiple folder/files may cause the connection to freeze, lag or lose connection.

Accessing Admin Settings w/ Master Key

Once you have finished transferring all the games/applications you want.  Do the following:

6. Go back to the home screen and tap 'Dial' input the following: (For Admin Settings) *#6984125*#
->

7. Tap on 'Internals', Input the following code (Master Key). *#3818790*#
->

8. Tap on 'Storage Settings'

9. Tap on 'Update Java DB', Now scroll down to where it says 'Update app database' and Tap on that.
->

10. It should take a couple of seconds to update.

11. Once updated you can check out your new games/apps! Cheesy

Credits go to: Agoattamer & pmankow for the latest addition with the Master Key! Cheesy
*****************************************************

This concludes the guide, if you have any problems or questions just reply them to this thread.  Smiley

Users who have unlimited data plan do not need to use the TKFileExplorer method for installing games.

You can use websites such as this: [here] (or other wap sites) to upload your games/program files.

If you install the GPS Apps via TKFileExplorer it will grant all the permissions therefore there is no need for other mods such as the goatbreaking method.

I got it working. I had to set the connection to PC Studio in the Solstice USB setting and not "Ask". Turned phone off while connected to pc. Turned phone on while connected to pc. Opened TK File Exploer, still did not show Com ports. However, I found what COM port the modem was using by looking in device manager and manually typed it in there and I can now see the phone's internal memory.

Yeah, it should work smoothly from now on after restarting it. If you have any other problems with the Solstice, feel free to PM me. Agoattamer owns an Impression, and although he knows (alot) more than I do, I can probably answer most of your questions.

My phone won't connect to the pc studio, every time I plug it in it sais that I need to locate and install drivers. I tell it to find it itself and it sais "Windows could not find driver software for your device." I was able to install the driver for te usb mode and media player mode but not the one for pc studio. I then tried hooking it up to TkFile Explorer and it show any coms.

I'm not familiar with vista. But for xp you should have installed pc-studio before plugging in your phone. Put your phone on pc-studio mode and plug it in and it should get recognized.

If you plugged it in before you installed pc-studio you might try uninstalling it along with any drivers that say samsung and reboot your PC. Then just install pc-studio. Dont install the usb drivers too.

That happened to me after I installed the stand alone drivers. I had to uninstall all the drivers, PC Studio, and there was even some Noikia stuff in there (I do not own a Nokia phone). So make sure you delete anything phone related in Add/Remove programs. Then reboot, then reinstall PC Studio, then reboot again before hooking the phone up. It may not be required, but it worked for me.

More or less yes. Many apps you install from the internet and dont require this install procedure. But if you find an app on the net it usually has the jad with it also. But yes, if no jad then you will have to use jadgen to make a jad.
