Wait... I just saw something

When in pc studio mode it doesnt tell you on the phone when connected except for the little icon at top. Are you sure you are in pc studio mode?   Check again.

There is no wrong pc studio as long as it is a new pc studio. Solstice and impression should both use solstice's version. And if pc studio doesnt connect the TKFE sure as heck isn't.

Howdy! Another newbie on board *waiving* I am trying to install google maps via TKFileExplorer and when I open TKFileExplorer then go to "settings", "COM" and click on the arrow to select the available port nothing shows up.  I then went to device manager and located what port the phone was using, typed it in manually in the port section but TKFileExplorer is still not recognizing my phone.  PC studio and the tray icon are closed, what do I do now? So confused grrrrrr!!!

for the ones with vista 64bit...
You may want to make sure in device manager that you only have one samsung modem installed per com port. After fighting with my setup for two hrs., I discovered that after a complete driver, tkfe etc uninstall, Vista, as usual, missed some. Once I removed the "spare" device, tkfe picked up my com6 no problem.  Port sharing has always been a problem with Windows. You may also wish to check in internet options for residue uninstalls, exspecially if you tried out the internet connection using your phone.
Also, as pointed out elsewhere in the forum, try not to use an usb other than one in the rear of the tower. NOTHING I did would work on the front two usb's!

I had this working until Samsung had me reset my phone. I have since been unable to get TKFE to connect. I have tried uninstall/reinstall, multiple cables, multiple systems, system reimage, and everything else I could think of. It's just not connecting anymore. The only information I have been able to get from Samsung is that PC Studio is not compatible with 64 bit OS's, but that's a red herring.

As I can connect with PC Studio once I cram the drivers in, I suspect there is some internal flag that needs to be set. Does anyone have a good guide for the internal menus and such?

A master reset should not have affected anything. You are putting your phone in samsung pc studio mode?

I sure am. I tried the connection options to have it always connect that way, as well as "choose when I connect".

Did you type in "com#" or just the number. Very important to type the com in as com5 or com6 or whatever yours is.

thanks for such a detailed tutorial. i got everything working and was even able to transfer few games to my solstice. but then at one point, while transfering a big file, the tkfe froze and then after that i am not able to access my phone's internal memory. everytime i try to connect, it gives me an error that connection is lost. i tried rebooting phone and pc. even downloaded a new copy of tkfe but nothing worked. i am using window7. please help me to fix this problem.
