To use a mp3 on the solstice it needs to be under 300KB. For those that just have to have a full song here is a little tip on how to do it. Credit goes to the eternity forum.

I have all my ringtones stored on my memory card. When you select a ringtone it also makes a copy on the phones file system. This extra copy will come in handy.

Set a under 300KB mp3 as your ringtone. Then connect your phone to your computer in media player mode or pc-studio mode and use pc-studio. Whichever you choose.

Navigate using your pc to the selected ringtone on your phone's filesystem and delete it. Now go to your memory card and take the song you want to use as your ringtone and put it into the tones folder where you just deleted the ringtone from. Now rename that song EXACTLY like the ringtone you deleted.

Disconnect and you are done.

The renamed song will now be your ringtone.

Its not something to fix. Most phones have a ringtone size limit. Its always been that way. Your phone doesnt ring for 3 1/2 minutes. It can only ring for 30 seconds. And the first 30 seconds of most songs makes for a lousy ringtone.

I have found another way to trick the phone that may be easier for some. I downloaded the program "audicity" (free, google it) and reduced the quality to 16 bit, this let me about 2:20 of a song and make it a 295kb ringtone. The tone plays for the full time. You have to use a trial and error method to get your tone under 300kb.

This method doesn't limit you to the number of built in tones.

Well that isnt tricking the phone. That is what you are supposed to do. But most dont want to spend the time shrinking or clipping ringtones. I guess they change their ringtone 5 or 6 times a day.
