Try connecting by DUN. Are you using a third party bluetooth manager or the built in windows one?

I'm using the built in Windows 7 bluetooth manager. It was working fine until windows updated, so i will look into a 3rd party bluetooth manager.

I tried with the windows xp one. One time I got a serial connection. I dont know if its the phones or the device manager. Bluetooth seems to be a pain in the butt some times. But I know a few on the eternity forum who used blue soliel and could do it everytime.

This is very frustrating! Before I knew you could connect with B/T I didn't really care, but now that I know it can be done and I have connected it is driving me CRAZY! I am going to continue to try and figure this thing out. It was so simple before not to keep investigating.
Any adivse will be apprieciated.

Now you know why it isnt listed as a connection method. I actually did connect once myself by serial and then it wouldnt come up anymore. Then I once connected by DUN and it wont connect that way anymore. Tough to figure this one out. But that is the reason I only recommend the cable and do not suggest BT. But it would be awesome for some to get it completely figured out. But I think the problem is the windows BT manager and how it assigns ports and services. That is why I suggested Blue Soleil. It isnt free but if you can search the net you can usually find a working full copy.

Well I am able to connect to TKFE via bluetooth once again. I have tinkered with almost every setting and removed and added my phone to the device list about a dozen times so far. For all interested I am using the installed bluetooth manager that comes with Windows 7 and a IOGear bluetooth dongle. Once I figure out exactly what I did and make sure it is stable and not just a fluke connection I will open a new topic.
Cross your fingers!

Well this seems pretty simple. After I added my phone to my bluetooth devices I went to start/right click computer/properties/devise manager, click on ports. Mine showed two, the first is Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM3) and the second is Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM9). I then opened TKFE and and clicked on settings and manually entered COM3 and clicked the connect button and it connected. The only thing I did differently since not being able to connect from the first time is connecting to TKFE using usb cable. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not or how long it will work but I would like for someone else to attempt this method to see if they get the same result.
Update: Well it doesn't look like I will be posting a "How to" any time soon. There is no clear cut method to make the bluetooth connection work. It is very possible as I am still able to connect but it takes a little bit of trial and error and I'm failry certain it has something to do with connecting via usb cable which allows you to connect via b/t after that. Sorry if I got anyone excited for no reason but it is still working for me.
Update: Well I tried to connect to TKFE via bluetooth and it gave me the error message. Here is what I did to re-connect via bluetooth. I opened TKFE attatched my USB cable to my phone then to the computer and turned off my bluetooth to the phone and changed my port to use the cable and connected to TKFE. Then I disconnected TKFE, turned my bluetooth back on and set my com port back to the serial port for bluetooth and it connected. I unplugged the cable and it has been connecting ever since. If someone else wants to give it a try and let me know.

No matter what I do I can't seem to get connected with TKFE. I am on Vista 64 bit, and I have tried pretty much everything. And I've gone through device manager after I try the Qualcomm method, but I can't find the port option that I read people are clicking on. Any help appreciated.

Same here man. And I am also on Vista 64 bit. Perhaps 64 bit doesn't like some of the stuff we are trying to do for some reason. It has known compatibility issues with many programs. My problem is, I can never get TKFE to show any ports in the drop down list, when you go to tell it what port to use. And now, I can't even get PC studio to see the phone. You know, all this hooking a cell phone up to a computer stuff has never given me anything but grief lol. I used to use my cell phone to browse the internet, at slow speeds. It was a pain in the arse just to do that.

Hey I just got it working, although I have just upgraded to Windows 7 so if I get the chance I'll try it on my brother's Vista computer to see if it works.
The qualcomm stuff didn't work for me, but the part that I was misunderstanding was how to check what port the phone was going through. In Windows 7 you can go from start > Devices and printers > then in Unspecified or Unidentified, the Samsung Mobile Modem v2 and Samsung USB composite v2 devices will be there. I was clicking on the USB device and was wondering why it wouldn't show the right port. All I had to do was click on the Modem device and click hardware > properties > modem tab > and it showed in gray letters Port: COM5. So I opened TKFE and entered COM5 where the ports were supposed to show up(but didn't) and then clicked connect, and all the files on the phone showed up. I think you can navigate to a similar place in Vista by going through the control panel.

Hi, ive read all the different threads about connecting the solstice with a data cable to the computer. Mine works fine with pc studio, but not with tkfe. I cant get it to connect. Ive uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my computer & the phone hundreds of times. I went into device manager and found what com port the modem was using, tried manually typing it tkfe it says " Warning: Unable to open the specefied port. Please try again." i even tried switching the port it was using, same message pops up though. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have tried this one 3 different computers (all running XP) and have yet to be able to get TKFE to find a com port. Not a single com port is listed no matte what I do. I have connected and reconnected, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I am frustrated to the point of violence. When I force the tkfe.ini to the correct com and the baud rate listed in the device manager I get a "Communications Link is Lost" error. It is showing the phone as a drive for just a second but then goes away. Can anyone give me the port settings that are most likely to be used or tell me what I am doing wrong?
