 Hi Guys,
I'm about ready to toss this phone through the wall!!!!
OK, I just got my data cable today. I figured after reading Jesus's post on TKFE that I would just install TK and the driver. I could not install a driver. I tried MANY times directing Windows XP to the folder with the drivers in it but I got a "could not find drivers" error.
I figure, OK, I'll download PC Sudio. I downloaded and installed it. When I connect my phone Windows beginns searching for a driver and it never finds one. I direct it to the drivers that came with PC Studio and I got the "could not find drivers" error.
Then just for the heck of it, I change my USB connection setting in the phone  to "Media Player" and it connects with PC Sudio fine. That is the only way I have found to connect so far. I'll attach a couple screen captures.
 Any idea's?Huh

Here is an udate (if anyone's interested)
I uninstalled PC Studio and TKFE. I restarted the phone and computer.
I then downloaded TKFE again. Then I installed the USB drivers from the phone's CD.
No  change! I can only connect if I select the media option in the phone's connectivity setting. If I select PC in that setting Windows looks for a driver that it is unable to find.
Looking in the device manager while unable to connect it shows Samsung with no driver installed.
However when connected in media mode it shows a driver installed.
 What am I doing wrong???

OK. Maybe you need to clean things up a bit. Uninstall pc studio and any samsung drivers in your add/remove programs. Reboot your pc. Then install pc studio. While pc studio is installing set your phone on samsung pc studio. Then reboot your phone. When pc studio is done installing then try to connect your phone.

TKFE doesnt install. It just runs so there is no reson to delete and reinstall it.  Do not go through any usb hubs. Might try to use usb off the back of the pc. Front ports in older computers can be usb 1.1 and the voltage can fluctuate more.

Your the man Goat!!!! I'm connected to PC Studio. Now should I be able to connect to TKFE? I still have no ports listed in the drop down menu in TKFE.
The phone is on COMM 6 Baud rate 921600. That's what it says in the Device Manager anyway. I do need TKFE to unlock the pictures that AT&T put in there right? I also would like to install Google Maps without all the data connection warnings.

I got it Goat! I was reading the "Help with TKFE" post. When I came to the part about entering the COM port as COM6, I knew what I did wrong. I only entered 6 just like Luke did! It makes me feel like an idiot!
Now I can't uninstall PC Studio and just keep TKFE right? I don't really need Studio, it's just taking up disc space.
By the way, Thanks a million Goat, Jesus, F-Troop, and Luke. I used info from all of you!

Great you got it working. Now be careful and follow the tutorials.

You cant unlock the locked pics. Sorry. Yes you should need pc studio. It is possible if you delete it that the drivers remain and work but I am not positive. Dont mess up what you have accomplished.

Agoat gets nothing for his time spent here. He does it because he likes tech stuff, he's very intelligent, & usually, no, always nice?  lol, None of the techs, mods, or admin.s get paid. So please do as you did, & thank them for their time & help., He is the main tech on 5 sites like this 1, he stays busy helping!  Quig
