I went to amazon and bought a data cable. I downloaded PC Studio and a soon as i plug the phone in to the computer it pops up. The computer sees the phone, but TKFE doesn't. When I try to connect to the phone it doesn't work. After hitting the button with the phone and gears a window will pop up. I know I need to click the drop-down window called "COM", when I do this nothing is in the drop-down list. It wont connect. Can anyone help? I have tried different computers, different USB ports, different Drivers, restarting the computer, restarting the phone. Please help!

Did you go into the settings and specify that it connect using the Samsung-PC Studio mode? If it is set to "ask on connect" that can cause problems.

Lets make sure this is a data cable. Put your phone in media player mode or mass storage mode and click on the my computer icon on your pc. In mass storage phone shows up as a new removeable hard drive(requires memory card). In media player mode you should see your phone.

Well, did you put it into the Qualcomm usb mode? If so, you can either change it back to normal (Samsung mode), or try to force windows to install qualcomm drivers. In XP, if you have the Solstice version of PC studio installed and the phone is Samsung USB mode, there should not be any problems connecting with TKFE.

Dial *#197328640# like you were making a call select 9 fro common select 6 for usb configuration
Make sure your phone is set on USB mode before doing this.

Mediaplayer I believe will look for qualcom drivers. That is why I told you to put the phone in pc-studio mode before making sure it was on samsung USB. That screen changes according to what USB connectivity you have selected.
When you say you have tried this on multiple computers....do they all try and look for qualcom drivers when in pc-studio mode? It just shouldnt look for qualcom if samsung is selected.
Hate to say this. Make sure your phone is not connected to your computer. Make sure it is set on pc-studio mode and that it is assigned to samsung USB in the service menu. No qualcom. Then reboot your phone. Uninstall pc-studio. And uninstall any samsung drivers or qualcom drivers in your control panel's add/remove programs. Reboot your computer. Then install the new pc-studio. After it is completely installed then connect to PC-studio.
Go to the device manager on your computer and check under modems for a samsung mobile modem. It should be there. Keep your phone plugged in and close pc-studio including the monitoring icon in the control panel.
Since your phone is still plugged in, it should not search for new drivers. Start up TKFE, assign your com port which should be there and try and connect.

it only looks for qualcomm drivers in mediaplayer mode. it is fine ofterwise it works in pc-studio mode. it works in mass storage mode. and it works fine in new pc-studio. It also shows up in device manager. everything works fine. except TKFE. when i go to the ports list on TKFE nothing appears. that is the only problem.
I dont know if this means any thing, but on pc-studio there is a search button. On one of the computers in my house when i hit search device the phone comes up as connected. on the other computer 2 devices come up one is the phone as connected and the other is a unconnected COM. Also on either computer, if i click search device/click the phone/connection settings/USB/manual settings/then there is a "select a port" drop-down list. in that list it says "no ports" even though the phone statis says connected.

If the drop down box is empty, go to Device Manager on your computer and double click the Samsung Mobile Modem, then click on the modem tab and note the com port. Enter this into the empty box in TkFE just as it appears. Example COM6
