Thanks FtroopDad. That was my next post if he didnt get it to connect. Still trying to figure out what keeps that port from showing up in TKFE. Strange.

I'm working on it.  I think it is a driver issue, but I'll know more tomorrow.  Of the 5 phones I'm testing, the Solstice is the only one that has an issue on two different operating systems.

Thank you Thank you THank you it finally worked
How did you solve the problem? Please share with me. I cannot make TKFE take a port number. The same "Warning: Unable to open the port."

Goat Tamer and TroopDad
My phone has always been at Samsung USB. I didn't even know to switch between Qualcom USB and Samsung USB.

I used clean XP machine with SP3. Installed New PC Studio and TKFE. Phone connects well with PC in Samsung PC Studio Mode. 2 different XP computers and 2 different data cables.

If I enter a port number and close the COM window, and immediately repoen the COM window, port number is blank.

Thanks for solving my problem in advance.

Go to your device manager on your computer. And with your phone plugged in, look for samsung mobile modem under the modems.  If you click on properties of that modem, there should be your port number listed under 1 of the tabs. Enter it in TKFE as COM#. You have to have the COM part with no spaces between it and the number.

Everybody, please say "STUPID" because that's what I am. I enetered "3" not "COM3" and blamed TKFE for not talking to my phone.

Thanks, Goat Tamer. It's working. I am about to add my first application.

Well Im glad we got that figured out.  Grin  But I am still wondering why TKFE did not pick up your port automatically. Did you ever answer me and let me know if you have a 64 bit operating system?

I keep getting Communication link lost Using Win7 x64. Have tried compatability mode for all versions of windows. I can connect to PC Studio and the COM port comes up on its own. Storage mode works as well. Have tried all tips given in this thread as well as the Getting connected thread. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All...

So I had the same problem of not seeing any com ports listed in TKFE, so I followed the advice of finding the specific port and then typing it in. This worked GREAT on my work PC, but here at home I keep getting this error:

WARNING: Unable to open the specified port. Please try again.

So any insights? Everything worked fine up until this point.

Thanks in advance,
James
